As our beloved Mary Poppins said to Michael when he was trying to convince her that he would be good if only she’d stay, “that is a pie crust promise, easily made and easily broken”. I know that if I promise to always entertain, always be witty and produce endless streams of meaningful content, that I too will be making pie crust promises. There’s a lot to be said for stating intent upfront in an effort to keep myself accountable, but I know myself all too well at this point in my life.

So instead of making promises that sound good, but are potentially (highly likely) to be broken, I am going to show up every (several) day (s) to share the things that bring me joy, the thoughts that jumble around in my mind and form concepts and the mundane day-to-day happenings in my little corner of the world. That’s a promise I can keep.
